Social vs. technological mismatch

Are the reasons of the madonna-whore dichotomy evolutionary, social, or even explainable by psychoanalysis?

I guess the roots of it are hard to identify, but it is easy to see how the dichotomy can endure. Suppose a certain system of thought, that for instance contains such ideas as "sex is bad" (the usual pseudo-morality). Suppose too that this is the dominant ideology. And suppose that our genetic programming pushes us all towards doing things we were taught are bad. What, then, is the result?

Some people, perhaps because some reasons have led them to really think about it (for instance because they are not happy with their status within the genetic and social Matrix), will draw the right conclusions from that clash and become #3s.

Others will get so lost by that confusion that they will abandon the fight altogether and become #2s.

But within #1s, we have all those that still accept that framework. Among those, we might have those that are strong enough to do what they think is good, and those that are not.

Which, again, leads us to the dreaded correlations.
